# How long a made-to-order wedding dress takes

The real timings stage by stage, what affects them, and how far ahead of the wedding to book at the atelier.

One of the first questions a bride asks is whether we will make it in time. The honest answer: it depends on how complex the design is, but the process has a clear structure.

## Typical timings

In most cases a made-to-measure wedding dress takes **between one and a half and three months**. A simple dress with a restrained cut can be made faster, while a design with intricate hand embroidery, a corset and voluminous decoration needs more time.

## What the time is made up of

- **Sketch and sign-off** - one to two weeks. We discuss the look, draw the sketch and choose the fabrics.
- **Pattern and cutting** - the construction is drafted to your measurements from scratch.
- **Two or three fittings** - between them the dress is worked to your figure. This is the most important part, and it cannot be rushed.
- **Final finishing** - embroidery, seam finishing, steaming.

## When to book

The best window is **three to four months** before the wedding. That leaves room for fittings without a rush. The high season (February to September) is busier, so it is better to come earlier during those months.
