Wrap draping, a mermaid silhouette, a long train

Dorothea is built on draping: soft fabric runs diagonally from shoulder to hip and holds the body in an even stream of folds, without a single spare volume. The wrap bodice with its V neckline and wide straps sits close, the waist marked by a knot of folds at the side, and below the skirt opens towards the floor in a mermaid silhouette. As you step the hem follows with a slight delay, and the folds at the hip shift with the movement, settling a little differently each time.

All the finishing here is handwork on the draping: the folds are laid and secured one at a time, so the lines converge on a point at the hip and do not slide apart when you sit or turn. The back is open in a wide rounded line that leaves the shoulder blades free, and from the fastening small tucks fan out, continuing the pattern of the front. The train is cut whole and, standing still, spreads in a wide circle - in sunset light you can see the fabric take on a warm tone in the folds and stay pale on the smooth stretches.

A dress for an outdoor ceremony and for an evening with movement and open light - by the water, on a terrace, in a hall with tall windows. For each bride we change the fit of the bodice and the depth of the neckline, the length of the train, the skirt length for the heel, and choose the shade - from cool white to warm creamy ivory.

We name the price of the work at the consultation, once the design is clear. Fabrics and trims are bought separately and itemised, so you can see how the price adds up. The final figure is fixed in the contract before the work begins.

Yes. We make any model in your size, or take it as a starting point and build your own look - all the way to a sketch from scratch.

### Where the fittings happen

In our atelier at 50I Ligovsky Prospekt, St Petersburg. The consultation, the measurements and every fitting happen in person, by appointment.
