Marisa

Marisa is built from a dense fabric that holds the line of the body from shoulder to hip without a single spare fold. The boat neckline opens the collarbones and passes into a soft turned-down collar laid across the back - the only volume in the upper half of the dress. Below the knee the skirt opens and runs into a train: as you walk the cloth moves in one large wave, and on stairs or a level floor the light lies along it in long bands, so it reads almost liquid.

The back is deeply open, with a sheer openwork panel set into the opening: the pattern lies along the spine, and beside it runs a row of small covered buttons - a severe detail that makes the view from behind the main one. The panel narrows into a wedge and dissolves into the main cloth at about the waistline, so the transition never reads as a step. The shoulders are left sleeveless, the edge finished by hand and lying evenly along the arm, without pulling.

The dress is meant for an evening where the line matters more than volume: a ceremony in an intimate hall, a dinner, a shoot at sunset. For each bride we adjust the fit through the bust and hip - that decides how the fabric runs along the figure - choose the skirt length for the heel, and set the length of the train and the depth of the back. The shade is taken from cool ivory to warm milk, by your skin and the light of the venue.
