How making an evening dress differs from making a wedding dress

We make both wedding and evening dresses, and people often ask what the difference is. Here it is.
Construction and volume
A wedding dress is usually the more complex of the two: a corset, a voluminous skirt, a train, layers. An evening dress is normally simpler in construction but can be bolder in cut - deep necklines, slits, an open back.
Fabrics and colour
Wedding dresses live mostly in a pale range (ivory, milk, powder). Evening dresses have a wider palette: from black and emerald to burgundy and metallics. The fabrics overlap in part (satin, silk, lace), but for evening we more often use velvet, crepe and embroidered fabrics.
Timings
Because the construction is simpler, an evening dress usually takes less time than a wedding one - but the exact timing depends on the design. We wrote about wedding dress timings separately.
Cost
The principle is the same: labour and fabrics counted separately, the price fixed in the contract. At equal complexity an evening dress often comes out more affordable than a wedding one, because there is less work and less material.
We make both from scratch to your measurements, with the same attention to fit and detail.
You can see our work in the collection and the gallery, and talk your own dress through at a consultation.
