Kailea

Kailea is built from pleated fabric laid in rays: the lines converge at the waist, spread across the hip and lead the eye down to the skirt. The corset holds its shape unaided, the fit close to the figure to mid-thigh, and below that come large tiers that open towards the floor and continue into a train. As you step these tiers move with a delay - the skirt stays put at first, then catches up. Light works in detail on such a surface: every fold gives its own shadow, and the silhouette reads as volume even standing still.

The bodice is asymmetric: one shoulder is bare, the other covered by a wave of the same fabric gathered into a sculptural curl - it rises above the shoulder and is echoed at the hip, where corset meets skirt. Those two accents set a diagonal across the whole body. The back is open to the shoulder blades, the neckline calm, with a vertical seam down the centre continuing the pattern of the pleating. The veil stands apart from the tiers and the relief: it is nearly weightless, moves through the air as a separate layer and streams off to one side in the wind.

A dress for an outdoor ceremony and for shooting in motion, where the skirt has room to turn. Made to your measurements: we judge the height of the curl at the shoulder against the line of your neck, the depth of the neckline, the length of the train, the seat of the corset over the ribs and hips. The shade is chosen from cool milk to warm cream - on pleating the difference shows at once.
